Calls to Smash

Reactionary Rule in Hongkong

·

Peking, June 3 (Hsinhua) The People's Daily today frontpages an editorial en titled 'Resolutely Strike Back At the Provocations of British Imperialism'.

The editorial states that a great struggle against the bloody persecution by the British imperialists has broken out in Hongkong. Regardless of repeated warnings by the Chinese Government, the British authorities in Hongkong have been intensifying their provoca tions against the Chinese people.

The editorial declares that British imperi alism is the wicked colonialist rulers of Hong- kong and the enemy of the seven hundred million Chinese people as well as the enemy of their four million compatriots in Hong kong. For the past one hundred years and more, the British imperialists have committed monstrous crimes in Hongkong. We must ex- pose and propagate all the crimes, arouse the masses to condemn them, make them known to every family in Hongkong so that the masses can thoroughly recognize the aggres- sive, reactionary and decaying nature of Bri- tish imperialism.

The evil doings and bloody persecution by the British imperialists can absolutely not be tolerated by the seven hundred million Chi- nese people as well as by their compatriots in

'Revolution is no crime; rebellion is justi- fied'-Peking Red Guards and other prole- tarian revolutionaries give encouragement to their Chinese compatriots in Hongkong with this saying famous in China's cultural revolu- tion.

People's Liberation Army fighter Wang Jen-ju of the Peking garrison declared, 'the Chinese People's Liberation Army is composed of sons of the people. We'll not watch with indifference the persecution of our fellow countrymen in Hongkong by the British im- perialists. We'll give them powerful backing In their just struggle.'

Revolutionary Masses

The fascist atrocities of the British authori- ties in Hongkong against the Chinese compa- triots had caused the greatest indignation among Shanghai proletarian revolutionaries,

the revolutionary masses and the Red Guard young fighters.

The revolutionary masses in Kwangchow pointed out that the People's Daily editorial

was a mobilisation call to struggle against the outrages perpetrated by the British authorities in Hongkong. The Chinese people would re- solutely respond to this call and fight shoulder to shoulder with their fellow countrymen in Hongkong.

Many revolutionary workers angrily de- nounced the British imperialists for their con- tinued bloody efforts to put down the patrio- tic Chinese residents in Hongkong in spite of repeated warnings from the Chinese Govern-

ment.

declared.

"This is absolutely intolerable,' they

Kwangchow workers reminded the British Imperialists of the general strike by the work- ers of Kwangchow and Hongkong in the 1920's which had dealt them a telling blow. The present struggle against the British out- rages in Hongkong would inevitably take on still greater proportions since the workers and other patriotic residents in Hongkong were armed with Mao Tse-tung's thought and had the backing of the 700 million people of their homeland.

The Red Guard young fighters seriously warned the British authorities in Hongkong that if they insist on being hostile to the 4 mil- lion Chinese compatriots in Hongkong and the 700 million Chinese people they will face fai- Jure and destruction. The day when the Bri- tish imperialists have to get out of China's sacred land will not be far off!

Cadres of Kwangchow pointed out that if the British authorities in Hongkong continue to step up their atrocities, then the anti-im- perialist struggle of the Chinese residents in Hongkong against persecution will also be- come stronger and the anti-imperialist strug- gle of the Chinese people will increase. The destiny of Hongkong depends upon the Chi- nese residents and the 700 million Chinese people and will not be determined by the rotten, moribund British imperialists.
