Letter to the Chinese seamen

In a letter addressed to Chinese seamen in Hong Kong, Amalgamated Union of Seafarers, Hong Kong (TU 419-R/W), pointed out the truth regarding the disturbances, and called upon seamen to have confidence in Government and to maintain peace in Hong Kong.
The letter pointed out: "The recent disturbances in Hong Kong
The incidents have been entirely due to intrigues by the leftists. arising from the labour-management dispute could actually have been settled by labour-management talks. But incitement by the leftists The turned the industrial dispute into political labour agitation. leftist elements tried to take advantage of the industrial dispute to humiliate the Hong Kong Government with a view to bringing it under the control of the leftists, just as in Macao, in order to achieve success in its political blackmail.'

The Union further indicated that satisfactory answers will be given to those seamen who write to the Union to enquire about the safety of relatives or to obtain a clear understanding of their situation.
