(1) HSUSH PING N.C.N.A. Reporter. Born in China.

Now in prison serving a total of two years imprisonment

for unlawful assembly and taking part in an intimidating assembly: Claims to be a single man but police reports state that there is a woman who claims to be his wife and that

there are children.

(2) CHAN FUNG— YING

Born in China.

N.C.N.A. Reporter (Single Female)

Has held Press card since May 1967 only.

Arrested outsid: Government House on 16th July: on remand

until 1st August.

Born in China. Has held Press card since May, 1967, only. Arrested outside Government House on 16th July: on remand

until 1st August.

2. The Acting Governor was informed on 21st July that it might be helpful, in securing the release of Mr. Grey, Reuter's correspondent in Peking now under house arrest, if it were found possible to deport HSUEH PING ((1) above) to China. We enquired whether there would be any legal or political difficulties about such a course. The Acting Governor replied that it would be legally possible to remit sentence and deport Hsueh Ping:
