Throughout the early part of May the Border Defence

Regiment remained heavily committed to agricultural and

propaganda work.

During the last two weeks of the month political

activity intersified with meetings or parades becoming almost

a daily occurrence. The CCA and armed Militia took part on all

occasions, The role of the CCA appeared to be two-fold,

military participation coupled with overall supervision to ensure

that there were no frontier infringements.
