FUTURE DEFENCE POLICY THE HONG KONG GARRISON
Draft Report by the Defence Policy Staff
1. In accordance with the instructions (1) of the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Defence Policy Staff has examined the impact upon the Hong Kong garrison of the withdrawal of forces from
Malaysia and Singapore.
2.
The Foreign Office, the Commonwealth Office, Defence Secretariat and Defence Intelligence Staff have been consulted.
Recommendation
3. I recommend that if they approve the report the Chiefs of
Staff should:
a.
Forward it to the Secretary of State for his approval. Subject to the Secretary of State's approval authorise
its use as a basis for further planning.
