Your telegram No. 831: Chung Tah School
Ministers agree to the deregistration of
Chung Wah School. But they consider it
important that any subsequent application for
the registration of a new school in the existing
premises under a new name, staff and management
(as envisaged in paragraph 5 of your telegram
under reference) should be judged on the same
criteria as any other application for permission
to register a new school; and that it would be
desirable to get this across to the communists
in whatever way and by whatever means you judge
best, so as to reduce risk of Chinese exploiting
deregistration as proof that we are obstructing
communist education.
2. In reaching their decision Ministers were
aware of the related exchanges in your telegrams
Nos. 832 and 855 and Peking telegram No. 620
which are being further considered.
