IMMEDIATE PEKING TO FOREIGN OFFICE

Peking Telno. 482 to Hong Kong

7 August 1968

CONFIDENTIAL

Addressed to Hong Kong telegram No. 482 of 7 August, Repeated for information to Foreign Office.

In order to assess when danger point arises over Chung Wah school it would be helpful to know:

(a) when does deregistration finally take effect?

(b)

are Communists showing signs of defensive legal action, e.g. we are not showing cause why deregistration should not take place?

(c) are there any further signs that they have decided to avoid a direct clash on this issue and to apply for a new school?

(d) I presume that Communists are well aware of legal position, on timing etc.

Foreign Office pass Immediate Hong Kong.

Sir D. Hopson.

[Repeated as requested]

[Note by Comms Dept.: This was a missing telegram

repeated at our request]
