He repeated the words of Vice-Minister Lo Kuei-po: if the British side really wanted to ease relations, solve outstanding problems and normalise Sino- British relations as they profess, then they must show this by actions and not just by talk.
9. H.M.M. said there was no point in continuing the argument. He had explained the Hong Kong Government's understanding of the position of those interested in carrying on education in Hong Kong. He would pass on to H.M.G. what Mr. Hsueh had said. When, following a question by H.M.M., Mr. Hsueh said the Chinese did not intend to publish the substanc› of this interview at the present time, H.M.M. affirmed that H.M.G. would not do so either.
