the internal problems in Hong Kongre the terroists activities, in
the Government view, a part of an overall plan by China, or are they
haphazard incidents which are bought about by the communists in
Hong Kong

I think as I indicated a moment or two ago their really a refblotion

of the internal political struggles.These rather mysterious struggles
that have been going on the mainland of Hong Kong and I think the various Chinese communists factions inside Hong Kong are felt bound to
show that their as good as red guards as anybody else I think that is
the source of the trouble
And are you satisfied that the civilian forces such as the police and -
so on are sufficient in Hong Kong to cope with these terroists activities

Yes wholly satisfied about that this has been the action of a minority
I think the authorities, the police forces have behaved magnificently.
I think what has been equally striking has been the way the overwhelming
majortiy of the population of Hong Kong they have supported theauthrotty
in the actions xxx that they have had to take they have unfortunately been
some kraigtasxxx tragic loss of life from these activities, conducted though
they have been by a minority, and I would of course like to take this opportunity to à express my own deep sympathy and that of her Majesty's Governement to all
kastxxx those who have suffered in these troubles
Now a number of people are worried that as a result of these communists
activities there may be a fall off of investment in Hong Kong money which
might go there might go instead now to Formosa might go to Singapore whats
your view on that
