You will observe from paragraph 58 of the revised paper that we are generally rather pessimistic about our ability to do anything effective to break China's grip on our food supplies. For this reason, we are not asking for any further assistance from you at the present time although, should the position again deteriorate, we might wish to revive some or all of the requests made in paragraph 4 of my Saving Despatch under reference.
