(xi) Requirements of fresh supplies.
No advice could be given on this
as the problem had never arisen in
the United Kingdom. On the question
of potential stock piles two ideas
were, however, put forward: -
A.
the possibility of arrange-
ments being made with a
producing country to "stock pile" meat (or other products)
on Hong Kong's behalf, such a
stock pile could then be turned
over in the normal way
in a
way that no importer in Hong Kong
would be in a position to do.
B.
Freeze Dry Storage
which
(xii) Fish
apparently can be applied to
any products without a need to
maintain freezing conditions,
only dry ones. The principle
was developed by the Ministry of
Food, but is the same as that
used for Knorr foods, etc.
this was never rationed in the
United Kingdom
because of the low
level of consumption, not because of any particular control difficulties.
