DRAFT EXCHANGE OF LETTERS
In connexion with the signing of the Anglo-Jenelux Agreed
Minute on Trade I have the honour to inform you that the
following is ry understanding of the situation:-
(a) The present arrangerents for freely licensing imports
into the United Kingdon of all types of processed
milk will continue in force for a period of three
months from the end of the current period of validity
of the Agreed Minute. Processed milk is accordingly
included in the Annex to the Agréed Minute.
In the event of the United Kingdom finding it
necessary to reimpose bilateral quotas for the
import of processed milk, consultations will take
place with Governments of the Benelux countries
before the expiry of the current period of validity
of the Agreed linute with a view to determining
quotas for each country, having regard to all relevant
factors including trade in these products during the
previous 12 months.
(t) It is the intention of the United Kingdom Government
during the current period of validity of the Agreed
inute to continue to issue licences freely for the
import of Benelux jute yarn. Jute yarn is accordingly
included in the Annex to the Agreed linute pro
memoria,
(c) The United Kingdom representatives agreed that in
respect of the allocations within the framework of the
so-called "Bacon Understanding" of 11th Larch, 1964
there would be consultations with the Governments of
the Benelux countries concerning the proportion of
supplies to be taken from those countries.
(d) the Government of the United Fingdom is disappointed
that the Belgian Government is still unable to lift
the present bar on sugar imports and hope that the
