Addressed to Governor Hong Kong telegram No. 12 of 7 June.

Your telegram No. M377.

Following from Porter.

Martin at present in Paris.

No doubt he will deal with

your paragraph 1 immediately on return.

2.

Your paragraph 3. My copy of our telegram o.11 reads 28) 1st, repeat 1st, February. Figure 8 presumably an error of

transmissi on -

3. Your paragraph 4. Your need for statistics by quantities appreciated but Benelux Governments simply do not have these - figures. It was for this reason I gave you statistics by value

in order to facilitate conversion.

4. Your paragraph 5. I agree transit and re-export figures surprising but Dutch insist that they are correct. That is, there has been no transit or re-export trade to date. Dutch records appear to be completely accurate as they arc able to compare Hong Kong export licences with actual imports. headed "In transit" in Appendix 3 to Saving telegram 417 somewhat misleading as this refers to goods which have actually been re-exported or which have passed through Holland in transit. You will notice it reads "Nil".
