BOARD OF TRADE

G.I. Brown

CG. 308,

Hong Kong

Dear Corley,

Anglo-Benelux Agreed Minute

on Trade

Thank you for the copy of your letter

CRE.41/67 of 24 November addressed to Gordon

and enclosing the Brief for the meeting with

Benelux representatives on 12th/13th December.

At the outset I should make it clear that

so far as this Department is concerned, we can

comment only on behalf of Hong Kong which is

the sole territory for which we are responsible

On this understanding we propose that our

representative at the meeting on

12th/13th December should be Mr. G.I. Brown.

From the point of view of Hong Kong we

raise no objection to the inclusion of the

U.K. Overseas Territories within the scope of

the Benelux Agreed Minute on Trade. The

choice as we see it, however, is between

including all U.K. Overseas Territories or,

if there is objection to the inclusion of

Hong Kong, excluding them all. We emphasise

that there must be no explicit exclusion of

/Hong Kong
