(k) In paragraph 53 a distinction should be drawn between those Hong Kong

Chinese who had acquired United Kingdom citizenship and those who had not, but whom we might not wish to expel.

(1) In the first sentence of paragraph 62 it should be made clear which

courses were being referred to.

(m) In general, the Commonwealth Office would consider the possibility of putting more positively the arguments in paragraphs 62 to 68.

(n) The conclusions and recommendations would need revision to bring them

into line with the amendments proposed earlier in the paper, and to make

clear the timescale involved.

The Working Party -

(2) Invited the Commonwealth Office, in consultation as

appropriate with the Treasury, Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence, to revise the draft paper in the light of the discussion, with a view to its being considered again soon after Easter.
