PEKING TO FOREIGN OFFICE
Telno. 1063
UNCLASSIFIED
13 August 1967
Addressed to Foreign Office telegram No. 1963 of 13 August
Repeated for information to Washington, Hong Kong and POLAD Singapore.
'Peoples Daily' of 12 August carries one item on Hong Kong which is an account of the incident at Man Kam To on 10/11 August. Article says Chinese workers seized weapons when Hong Kong Police and troops were preparing to open fire. Eventually British officers bowed their heads and admitted their faults and signed a "document of confession and guarantee".
This was another great victory for the Chinese transport workers in that district.
