Attention Glover.
Reference our 031430. Lieutenant Colonel Denis O'Leary, Commanding Officer of First Battalion Seventh Gurkha Rifles, said the person who threw the bomb on Army observation post at Shataukok early yesterday morning probably lived on Hong Kong side of border.
He said bomb thrower had been able to climb onto a four foot high metal stand on pavement and reach high enough to lob bomb through the opening.
The observation post is in the Fish Market building at Sha taukok. Street outside is border with China.
Colonel said there was nothing to indicate bomb thrower had come from the Chinese side.
He said men of People's Liberation Army on sentry duty across border appeared to be surprised by incident.
Villagers on Hong Kong side were shocked.
Colonel said none of injured men Sergeant and two Corporals been badly hurt.
(This cable clarifies earlier report which said bomb was thrown from Chinese side of border. This discrepancy is regretted).
