They were all employees of the Yu No Tong restaurant in Lau Pau Shan which runs the oyster beds, She Chinese junk was a civilian one and there was no sign that any of the occupants were armed.
We believe that this abduction is the culmination of an argument which has been going on for some time between commune members who run oyster beds in Deep Buy and the Hong Kong owners of nearby oyster beds. Apparently the oyster beds owned by the communcs have suffered recently, through natural reasons and thoy have taken to brooding their oysters very close to the oyster beda cultivated by Hong Kong residents. Thore soeng to have been some pilfering of the commune beds and threats were issued this summor by the communes.

The fourth three of them will probably return fairly soon. who is alleged to have left China in the last few years may well not return.

Although as yet we have o very clear understanding of the details of this oyster loa ute we bolicve that is has no connection with un incredibly comlicated issue at present being urgued out at personal level between moubers of a commune and certain villagers in the Now Territories. has to do with the residual rights of the original lessee of one of the oyster beds. The cormuno members claim that they have traditional rights to the oyster bed in question while ouz villagers have other ideas. We have been very careful to keep our official noses out of this dispute and hope vor, much that, we need never bother you with it officially,
