Incidents at Lo Wu.

On 3 August in the early evening groups of hooligans crossed the bridge into British territory, threw stones at buildings and troops and attempted to haul down the Union Flag. Although a few armed militia were seen in the vicinity they took no part. The incidents took place over a period of three hours, before P.L.A. restored control and prevented further incidents.

2. Troops were compelled to use tear gas grenades on three occasions to compel hooligans to withdraw. gas grenade landed on Chinese bank of river.

3. Stockpiling of stones on the Chinese side for further use was observed.
