They were not observed to make any contact with any Foreign or local personality of security interest while in the Colony.

The visit of this party and the various pressures which the Russians attempted to bring to bear on the Hong Kong authorities to obtain representation in the Colony and permission for visits by newspapermen indicates strongly the desire of the U.S.S.R. to extend the foot-hold it has obtained in Hong Kong. Whilst the Hong Kong authorities would in any event be reluctant to see this happen, any extension of Russian influence here, in the light of Sino Soviet relations, would almost certainly prove to be an embarrassment and should therefore be resisted

most strenuously.
