Macao Consulate.
The Consul is able to telephone us without difficulty. Contact is made this way several times a day.
2. The radio link still exists and is functioning. Unfortunately the crowds pressing round the Consulate can see into the Consul's office where his set is and he does not wish to use it unnecessarily. We test the circuit whenever we can, and of course the Consul would use it if telephonic communication were cut.
3. He is still able to post letters to us (he has in fact been forced to post to us and to you a number of the letters of protest handed to him) and to communicate through a few helpful third parties.
40 Ions hopes now to visit Hong Kong tomorrow, possibly with Kemble and Pollard.
