Macao.
Ions, Kemble, Pollard and his wife are now safely
in Hong Kong. They were unable to bring with them any of their classified material but it has been stowed away in the strongroom, Further demonstrations were planned.
2. We have spoken to the Portuguese Consul General here explaining that the staff have come to Hong Kong for consultations (this is the line we shall be taking publicly) and requested assistance in ensuring the safety of our official premises in Macao. It would be useful if authorities in Lisbon could also be urged to instruct the Governor to take all possible steps in this direction.
