For Galsworthy. Your telegram No.629.
I saw Keswick on 8 April and told him I had heard he was thinking of seeing Li. Without giving any details, I told him that if he did so he would be stepping into an extremely delicate and complex situation and I asked him to be very careful not to allow himself to be drawn into any discussion whatever of Sino-British relations as they affect Hong Kong.
2. He accepted this willingly and said he did not propose to make any further approach to Li: but if, on his return from Japan in a week or two's time, Li made any approach to him he would see Li and bear what I had said in mind.
