IMMEDIATE PEKING TO FOREIGN OFFICE

IMMEDIATE PEKING TELEGRAM NO.511 TO HONG KONG 10 SEPTEMBER, 1968

CONFIDENTIAL

Addressed to Hong Kong (British Trade Commission) telegram No.511 of 10 September, Repeated for information to Foreign Office.

(72)

As regards notice, my tele gram No.695 of 29 July to Foreign Office asked that since Hunter seemed likely to receive a visa soon Laughton would collect his entry visa from China Travel. He will since have seen that exit visas were trickling steadily.

2. I very much regret any inconvenience this may cause but should like Laughton to travel on 16 September. He can then get through in one day. If Hunter gets his visa this week which seems a reasonable bet he will leave on 19 September. If Laughton travels on 18 September he would miss Hunter altogether.

Foreign Office please pass Immediate Hong Kong
