Addressed to Foreign Office telegram No. 483 of 27 May, Repeated for information to Hong Kong.

HW

Hong Kong telegram No. 562 [sic] to you: Entry Visas.

In principle I think that all entry visas should be collected as quickly as possible. Possibility that Walden and Laughton's visas may be for one month only does, however, raise complications of timing.

2. Ministry of Foreign Affairs are unlikely to react helpfully to an enquiry such as that proposed in paragraph 3 of telegram under reference. I suggest instead that Hong Kong should collect Walden's visa immediately and discover length of validity.

If

this is one month only, collector should explain to C.T.S. that the Laughtons wish to travel in early July, and asked for visa to be made for that period. This may mean delaying collection of the Laughton visas for about two weeks.
