HONG KONG

ASSURED OF

THAI RICE

SUPPLY

assured

THAILAND has Hong Kong that rice sup- plies will be enough to meet the demand there, an offi- cial of the Economic Affairs Ministry said yesterday.

The assurance was gi- ven by Dr Serm Viniccha- yakul, the Acting Minister during the absence of Pote Sarasin, to Sir David Trench, the Governor of Hong Kong during his seven hour stop- over here earlier this week.

As a regular purchaser

of rice, Thailand is willing to supply as much as pos- sible to that country, if Hong Kong will regulate purchases to avoid boom and slump conditions throughout the year.

The regulation of pur- chases would benefit not only the producer but also Hong Kong because prices would be stable, the Minister ad- vised Sir David, the official said.
