that we should not run into umecessary trouble with the Chinese over these visits, I wonder if we could not persuade the Americans to extend the period of 30 days. The ideal would be 30 days on either side of the visit. But if this is too long, could we not perhaps get them to agree to 30 days beforehand and 15 days afterwards? I would not have thought this would have presented too much difficulty with
the Americans.
