The CONSTELLATION, HORNET and INTREPID are flat tops and the PROVIDENCE and ST. PAUL cruisers.

This schedule bends the guidelines to a certain extent by reducing the time space between visits of major units. However in view of the cancellation of the visits of PRINCETON, BAINBRIDGE and HORNET in the last two months we think it desirable to be as co-operative as possible at present and I think we can accept the programme. Furthermore we think that there is a good deal to be said in the current situation for keeping the American presence in Hong Kong in the public eye.
(Passed to L.T.C. for repetition to Peking and Singapore
and to D.S.A.0. for Washington.)
