"Washington, No. 31.

" POLAD Singapore, No. 23

(please pass to Washington).

Both the main local left-wing newspapers on 26th January have minor articles on their Hong Kong news page pointing to the arrival of 6 more U.S. Naval vessels on 25th January, making 26 altogether in the first 25 days of January, and to the continued presence here of Admiral Hyland on his flagship. The residents of Hong Kong cannot but pay close attention to the fact that after Admiral Hyland the Commander-in-Chief of the 7th Fleet and General Sir James Cassels, had made contact in the Hong Kong Naval Base, armed supply vessels and high speed transport vessels should visit Hong Kong and undertake activities.
