U.S. Facilities.

As agreed at your meeting on 19 May with

Galsworthy, I have informed Governor that we accept need to reduce for the time being visits of ships and troops on lines proposed in paragraphs 2 and 4 of his telegram under reference. This is now being pursued with Americans locally.

2.

Clearance has accordingly been refused for U.S.S. 99 PRINCETOWN (his telegram No. 654 and Washington telegram No.1700). We have just received a further request for visit by Bainbridge on 15 June. The Governor's strong inclination is to refuse this visit also. As we see things here we entirely support him. Please confirm you see no objection.
