NOTE TO PRESS OFFICERS
The Governor of Hong Kong (also see Note 177)
225
The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Trench, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Cowperthwaite, the Colony's Financial Secretary, is due to arrive at London Airport at 12.00 hours on Thursday, 25 April, on Flight BE 425.
As he will have been travelling a long time it is not likely that he will be desirous of holding a Press conference on arrival, and we should, accordingly, try to dissuade the Press from meeting him. However, should there be Press interest Sir David will pass
one or two pleasantries but will not go to the conference room.
For your information only he is due to have lunch at the B.B.C. on Friday, 3 May and it is probable that an arrangement will be
made for him to hold a Press conference in the Commonwealth Office
probably about 4 o'clock the same afternoon
will be confirmed later.
