On 1 Apr Chinese from CT joined with others on British side of border and carved pro Mao signs on hillsides near Man Kam To. Carvings then filled with gravel and whitewashed. Own troops obliterated carvings at night without incident.

Ba On 2 Apr RFA GOLD RANGER approaching Hong Kong from east

was challenged by two CCN patrol boats. On identifying herself as British was instructed to leave Chinese waters and was escorted to SW without further incident.

On 3 Apr 2 off duty policemen were attacked by group of 12 men with iron bars in Wanchai district. Policemen suffered head wounds but condition later reported satisfactory. Four arrests were made by police.
