Following from LIC,
Main features:
2.
a) Greater selectivity of targets but fewer bombs 218 hoax and 36 genuine) There were two explosions at Kai Tak and an unexploded bomb was found later in a lift. Attacks on police continued.
(b) A police constable was stabbed to death and his revolver stolen. This was the third such incident in four months but there was no conclusive evidence of Communist involvement.
(c) Denunciation meetings in schools protesting against closure of Chung Wah School and police raids on four other schools.
Y
(a) Further study group meetings in Communist Unions denouncing Government for devaluation, unemployment and suppressing schools. Payment of December strike' allowance was tightened up, only those active in Unions and still unemployed being eligible.
(e) Minor stoning incidents throughout the week at Sha Tau Kok and sporadically elsewhere have stopped work on removal
of secondary and realignment of primary fences pending representations to the Chinese Border Authorities. Work between Man Kam To and Lowu had been completed without incident.
(f) Food began to arrive by road over the Man Kam To Bridge.
(8) Press attacks concentrated on the schools issue and devaluation. The border negotiations' have been hailed as a victory indicating full C.P.G. support for local Communists.
The claim that the border negotiations were a victory was probably designed to boost local morale after action against Communist schools. R.W. and neutral papers welcomed the agreement as forerunner to a return to normal. It remains to be seen whether defiance in Communist schools will continue; there is known to be some apprehension that parents will withdraw their children if it does There is a possibility that Press calls
and the annual exhibition of Hong Kong products starting on 5 December may result in a resurgence of violence during the next few days.
