Your telegram No.816.

The Institute, after raising rate from 1s. per cent to 2s. 6d. per cent, has now reduced it to 1s. 3d. per cent. After discussion with Board of Trade, Collar and Sedgwick, we feel that we have no grounds for querying the slight increase now imposed.

2. We are including the Institute in Hong Kong Government Office's distribution of general situation reports and will be taking suitable opportunity to impress on officers of the Institute the need for caution in any public references they may make to developments in Hong Kong.
