The Committee
(1) Approved the recommendations in OPD(67) 39 regarding
the action to be taken in Hong Kong.
(2) Invited the Commonwealth Secretary, in consultation with
the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to send
to the Governor an appropriate message of congratulation to the Hong Kong Police.
(3) Invited the Commonwealth Secretary, in consultation
with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Defence Secretary, the President of the Board of Trade and tle Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to arrange for officials to consider our policy in respect of Hong Kong
in the long term, on the lines indicated in discussion.
