After a long delay, the Peking authorities
have recently been issuing a number of exit visas
for the staff of the British Mission in Peking.
At the same time the Hong Kong authorities have
been releasing a number of Communist detainees
who have been held in custody in Hong Kong for the
part they played in last year's disturbances.
However, so far all attempts by HMG to secure the
release of Mr. Grey, Reuter's correspondent in
there
Peking who has been under house arrest for
more
than a year, have failed. The attempts are
continuing.
