You telephoned the other day to Mr. Mason asking for a brief on Hong Kong for your Permanent Secretary's forthcoming visit to Hong Kong.

I am enclosing (besides a "fact sheet") notes on personalities, on relations with China and on defence and internal security. These were prepared for a Ministerial visit this summer which did not, in the event, take place. They are however still applicable.

If however he I hope the above meets Sir Michael's needs. requires a fuller briefing on any particular subject we shall of course be pleased to supply it.
