Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed
Dr. CHUNG Sze-yuen, J.P., provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council with effect from 13th September, during the absence from the Colony of Mr. P.Y. Tang.

Dr. Chung's previous appointment, referred to in your Despatch No.17 dated 22nd August, expired on 12th September following the return of Mr. Szeto.

Copies of the Instrument of Appointment in respect of Dr. Chung and of the Gazette Notice promulgating his appointment are attached.
