I attach a bound volume of petitions to Her Majesty The Queen from organisations in Hong Kong. The petitions all ask that the term of of ice of the Governor, Sir David Trench, should be extended. I should be graterul if these petitions could be laid before Her Majesty.
The Secretary of State is at present considering what advice to tender to Her Majesty about the Governor- ship of Hong Kong. His advice on these etitions is, therefore, that the petitioners should be informed that their views have been noted by Her Majesty and will be taken into consideration wen & decision is made. In reaching a decision Her Majesty will have the wishes, interests and well-being of Hong Kong and its people in mind.
