Clearing of the existing forest to make way for the reservoir is expected to be over later this year. The project is estimated to cost US$22 million.
New landmark in Kuala Lumpur
An 18-story building complex which will house a hotel, a supermarket, a shopping centre and car parks is being developed in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the developers, Ng Choo Kiat Housing Development, the project will be com-
ped with radio, television, telephone and refri- gerator. Malaysia's rich history will be reflected in the Melaka Grill, Tin Mine Bar, and Plantation Inn Coffee Shop.
Other features of the hotel include a shopping complex, private dining and meeting rooms, a ball- room, and convention facilities. There is also a swimming pool, surrounded by landscaped gardens, and a covered parking area for 400 cars. Ad-

pleted by mid-1973. Piling is expected to begin early next year. The site is located on Jalan Haji Hussein, off Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
The first four floors of the building (including the ground floor) will accommodate the super- market and the shopping arcades. The next floor will be a nightclub and restaurant. The upper floors will be for a first-class hotel with more than 200
rooms.
A car park will be provided in each of the first four floors; in all the parks can accommodate over 400 cars.
Kuala Lumpur Hilton ready soon
The topping off ceremony for Kuala Lum- pur Hilton was held last month, signifying the end of a major construction phase of the 36-storey hotel.
Located on a choice piece of elevated land in the heart of the Malaysian capital, the luxurious 600-room hotel commands superb views of the race course, the city, and the country's central mountain range.
Special care has been taken in the hotel's decor to emphasise the warm colours of tropical Malaysia and to use local materials in the furnishings. All rooms and suites are fully airconditioned, and equip-

jacent to the hotel is a 15-storey office block, at- tached by a concourse on two floors, which offers luxury office space, a variety of restaurants, indoor sports facilities, and a theatre.
Owned by Far Eastern Hotels Development (M) Berhad, the Kuala Lumpur Hilton was designed by BEP Akitek of Kuala Lumpur in coordination with Hilton International's department of architecture and interior design. Dale Keller & Associates of Hong Kong are interior decorators. The hotel is scheduled to open in mid-1972.
Majestic Hotel completed in Taipei
The Majestic Hotel, highlighted by an 8-floor- high mosaic picture (cost: US$120,000) on the front edifice, has been completed at Chungshan North Road, Taipei. The 12-storey hotel will offer 240 rooms initially and 600 rooms eventually. The suites and rooms are equipped with colour TV sets, refrigerators and telephones. There are two res taurants, a nightclub, a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge, a beauty shop, and shopping arcades.
