Pier on the land recently sold by the government. A new pedestrian subway under Edinburgh Place at its junction with Connaught Road Central will be added as an extension to the existing subway.
The work has been designed by the Highways Office, HK Division, Public Works Department. Construction will take 18 months.
HK$1 m. electrical contract
Ge Ling Engineering Co. has been awarded the contract for electrical installations in the 27-storey Melbourne Plaza building being erected in Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong. Ten companies submit- ted bids for the contract which is worth more than HK$1 million.
Melbourne Enterprises Ltd. are the developers of the project which will provide offices, shops and stores in a 300 ft. high building. Lee, Leung and Tsang are the architects for the scheme. The electric- al consultants are Associated Consulting Engineers.
26-storey circular tower planned
Construction work will start soon on an imposing 26-storey circular tower to be built on a 70,000 sq. ft. site at the junction of Newton Road and Thom- son Road, Singapore.
To be known as Goldhill Plaza, the 250 ft. high tower will house commercial offices and will rise above a five-storey circular podium containing shops, offices and parking floors. The project is being undertaken by Goldhill Properties Ltd. at a cost of about $$15 million.
It will be built in two phases, the first comprising the five-storey podium. There will be 24 shops on the ground floor, 48 shopping units on the first and second floors, and parking space for 300 cars on the third, fourth and fifth. The podium is expected to be completed by the end of 1971.
Phase two will be the 21-storey office tower with a floor area of 100,000 sq. ft. This is due for com- pletion in 1972.

Architects for the scheme are Yang Tai Tye, Singapore, with Eric Cumine & Associates, Hong Kong, acting as consultant architects.
PIA officers elected
Manual T. Manosa Jr., was re-elected president, and Gabino A. De Leon, vice president, of the Philippine Institute of Architects, at the institute's recent annual convention in Manila.
Other officers for the fiscal year 1970-71 will be Marcelo P. Angeles Jr., secretary, Manuel A. Santiago, treasurer, and directors, Francis L, Arcenas, Jesus M. Bondoc, Froilan L. Hong, Gero- nimo V. Manahan, and Felipe M. Mendoza.
