Wong Nai Chung outline zoning plan
HK Government approval has now been given to the Wong Nai Chung outline zoning plan which covers 332 acres, including 60 acres of green belt.
The object of the plan is to provide a statutory land use pattern and major road framework within which the use and development of land may be legally controlled. Most of the land zoned has al- ready been developed for residential use, hospitals, schools, churches and open space.
More than 86 acres, mainly on west and south of the Happy Valley race cource, are zoned for residential use, and another 2.5 acres in the vicinity of Stubbs and Leighton Roads for commercial/ residential purposes.
In addition to the 60 acres of green belt, about 34 acres are zoned for open space. These include the existing Happy Valley recreation ground, about 25 acres, and other existing recreation grounds at present occupied by various private clubs.
