FRAMING

Plastic Extrusions Secure Panels Within Tubular-frame Structure

A RANGE of rigid P.V.C. extrusions is now being manufactured by Dexion Ltd. to facilitate the process of clad- ding any structure produced by means of their Speedframe construc- tion system. Designed to secure building board or glass panels, the extrusions need only be cut to the re- quired length and then snapped over the 1 in. square Speedframe tubing.

In addition to an existing U-shaped extrusion, the range includes single- and double-fin sections, single and double H-sections, and a glazing sec- tion. The single-fin section incorpor- ates a flange which projects at an an- gle of 90 deg. and runs the length of the extrusion, With the section clipped over one side of a Speed-

frame tube, the fin can either fit into the slotted edge of a vertical panel or act as a ledge to support a horizontal panel. It is offset so as to accept a % in, thick panel on one side and a 5/16 in. thick panel on the other.

Designed along similar lines, the double-fin section provides fins on adjacent sides of the tube. These are capable of securing two vertical panels, if used on an upright mem- ber, or one vertical and one horizontal panel, if set horizontally.

Single and double H-sections work in much the same way as the fin ver- sions except that they incorporate two fins on each side to form channels in- to which 3/4 in. thick boards can be slipped. The channel masks the cut edges and makes accurate trimming unnecessary. The glazing section ac- cepts 32-oz. glass approximately 5/32 in. thick. Set in position after the frame has been completed, the glass is clipped in place by a separate extruded section.

TILE ADHESIVE

Recommended Where Hygiene is Important

TILES may be fixed dry with Tilon tile adhesive which adheres to most surfaces, even damp ones, and is un- affected by extremes of temperature or by atmospheric conditions.

It will withstand continuous tem- peratures of 100°C. or extremely low temperatures without any loss of ad- hesion and is particularly suitable where hygiene and sterility are im- portant as it contains no nutrients to harbour bacteria, moulds or fungi.

Tilon is completely non-flammable and does not give off any toxic or vapours. It covers 7 to 10 sq. yd. per gallon depending upon the kind of surface to be tiled.

Polybond Ltd., Warsash Road, Warsash, Southampton, UK, are the makers.
