to 1 down to 3% to 1 can be made by the operator through fingertip hydraulic controls. The sloper çan be retracted to a vertical position out of the way when the tractor is being used for ripping, dozing or pushing.

Optional 2ft. and 4ft. extensions are available for bank sloping at heights up to 14 ft. above grade.

Ateco equipment is sold through Caterpillar, International, Euclid and Allis-Chalmers dealers.

TRUCK

Lightweight Model with 500 kg. Capacity

AN 800 c.c, four-cylinder, water- cooled engine, rated at 41 h.p.. powers a new lightweight truck pro- duced by Daihatsu Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, 1 Koda-cho, Ikeda, Osaka Pref.. Japan.

The engine consumes 1 litre of fuel per 19 km. and gives the truck a maximum speed of 95 km. per hour.

The body measures 3.2 m. by 1.35 m. and takes a payload of 500 kg. There are flat floor, drop side gate and sunken floor, drop rear gate models, The cab takes two persons.

Distributors include: Bangkok Motor Co., Bangkok: Sam Shin Trading Co., Taipei; Norkis Trading Co., Cebu, Philippines; Southern Motor Co., Kuala Lumpur; and Wilfred Mah, Kuching.

TRUCK MIXER

High Speed Discharge from 4 cu. yd. Vehicle

TRANSCRETE truck mixers of 4 cu. yd. capacity are being built by Millars' Machinery Co., Ltd., Bishop's Stort- ford. Herts., UK. The new model has extra deep L-section blades to help speed the discharge of 11⁄2 in., 21⁄2 in, and 31⁄2 in. slump concrete at 15 seconds a yard and dry lean concrete at 1 minute a yard.

Mounted on a Dodge L.1100 chassis, the agitator has a 5 cu. yd. capacity. Separate engine and mechanical or hydraulic drives are provided.

The alloy steel drum rollers run on a machined drum track and are ad- justable for perfect alignment. The drum rotates on a steel shaft support- ed by taper roller bearings in a self-

aligning trunnion housing. Front and rear lever controls for operation of the mixer are fitted. Spray nozzles permit high pressure wash down of the working area to eliminate build up of material,

With the hydraulic drive power transmission is consistent with a float- ing drive to the mixer drum, ensuring constant chain tension without the stresses of truck twist on rough sites.

CRANE

Telescopic Boom Lifts 10 tons at 10 ft. Radius

CAPABLE of synchronised extension and retraction between 26 ft. and 62 ft., the three-piece telescopic cantil- ever boom on a new Taylor Hydra Super 10(T) truck-mounted slews through a full circle and can be derricked down for travelling.

crane

Maximum lifting capacity is 10 tons at 10 ft. radius. The hydraulic system permits independent simul- taneous operation of all crane mo- tions. Hoisting speed is 200 ft./min. with a 21⁄2 ton load.

The chassis houses four telescopic girder outriggers and hydraulically operated power outriggers are op- tionally available.

A power take-off on the engine gearbox drives the tandem gear-type hydraulic pumps. These deliver hy- draulic fluid via a four-bank control valve to the motors of the hoist and slew motions, and to the twin hydrau- lic cylinders which power the derrick motion.

slew ing ring having a double live ring of steel balls running in hardened races.

The AEC AV- - .470 diesel engine

develops 138 h.p. at 2,200 r.p.m. Maxi- mum road speed is 33 m.p.h. and maximum negotiable gradient 1 in 3.

The makers are The British Crane and Excavator Corp., Crown Works, Sunderland. UK.

DRILL

Multi-purpose Rotary Percussion Tool

A NEW QUERSA rotary percussion drill can be used on a wide range of materials including heavy concrete, stone, steel and wood. It will take drill bits of from % in. to 14 in. for use in concrete and will also tackle holes up to 31⁄2 in. using a core bit, while the maximum size of twist drill for working steel is % in.

Powered by a motor consuming 715 watts, with an epoxy-resin im- pregnated armature, the machine is fitted with a two-speed gearbox giv- ing a chuck speed of either 400 or 780 r.p.m. The changeover from straight drilling to drill/percussion is effected by moving a knurled selector ring, without the need for switching off the motor.

The number of blows per minute delivered when on low speed is 6,400, while on high speed the number rises to over 12,000 per minute.

The drill weighs 14 lb., and is avail- able in either 110 or 220/240 volt models, fitted with a % in. capacity Jacobs chuck.

The UK and Commonwealth con- cessionaires are Jackson Engineering (Beckenham) Ltd. Beckenham, UK.
