tion block, softboard and plywood acoustic ceiling in the Great Hall, a suspended plywood lighting grid over the Theatre, and fair-faced concrete elsewhere.
Walls are predominantly fair-faced concrete except the rear walls of the Great Hall and Theatre and the toilet walls which have a deep-textured tyrolean plaster finish. An acoustic treatment has been applied to the fins and balcony front in the Great Hall and three walls of the Theatre are panelled in plywood.
All parts of the complex are air- conditioned. The installation con- sists of separately zoned air-handling units with a central cooling tower and water chilling equipment.
Contractors
The main contract was let to Paul Y Construction Co. Ltd. in January 1965 and the buildings were declar- ed open by the Chancellor of the University. the Malaysian Prime Minister. Tunku Abdul Rahman on June 25, 1966.
The cost of the entire building con- tract was M$2,500,000.
