MIXER TAP

All Controls Combined in Only Two Dials

HOT and cold taps and a diverter for selecting either bath or shower are combined in one compact fitting on the Mira 10 mixer unit. The ten possible control operations are per- formed by only two concentric con- trol dials.

The Mira 10, made by Miraflo. Ltd., Whaddon Works. Cheltenham. Glos., UK, is not thermostatically controlled but depends for a stable temperature on equal pressure of the hot and cold water supplies. It is said to work satisfactorily at heads of only 7ft., with the effective shower head at 3 ft.

The maximum pressure of which it is capable is 20 p.s.i.-approxima- tely equivalent to a 40 ft. head. The centre control combines the functions of diverter and temperature selector: setting it with the arrow pointing down selects the bath tap: pointing upwards selects the shower; a deflec- tion of about 45 deg. on either side adjusts the temperature. variation of one dial does not affect the setting of the other.

The mixer fits any bath with tap holes at the standard 71⁄2 in. centres, provided that the bath rim is not too thickly tiled. and is supplied with a plastic gasket to protect the enamel. Supply connections are 4 in.

LIGHTED CEILING

System Uses Flat Glass Diffusers

CONTOURA is a new lighted ceiling designed specifically for flat glass dif- fusers.

Made by Integrated Ceilings, Inc., 11766 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, USA, it is constructed entirely of non-combustible permanent materials.

The suspension system consists of aluminium T-bars formed to a grid. Mounted on 2 ft. x 2 ft. modules, the system provides space between glass and aluminum for supply or return air movement so that air diffusers and reducing ductwork are often un- necessary.

PROTECTIVE COATING

Resin Can be Applied to Damp Surfaces

COLOURLESS liquid resin. Unifilm, applied to most building materials, forms a high-gloss protective film. It is especially suitable for damp sur- faces, since it cures naturally by absorbing moisture from the atmos- phere or from the sub-strata.

The coating is said to be water- proof and resistant to chemicals, petrols, oils, dirt and scratches. It can be used on both interior and ex- terior surfaces. Only one coat treat- ment is necessary. Curing takes about four hours.
