Westinghouse air-cooled water chillers against motor burnout
We call it Guardistor motor protection. Temperature-sensitive Thermistors buried in the motor windings measure the temperature inside the motor - instead of current flow to the motor to give you the most positive protection available on any reciprocating chiller.
A critical temperature rise sharply increases Thermistor resistance which, through the Guardistor circuit, automatically stops the compressor. There is no danger of motor damage from overheating due to overload, loss of refrigerant, locked rotor, single phasing or low voltage.
