LIGHTING FITTING

High-intensity Spotlight Provides Concentrated Beam

A HIGH-INTENSITY spotlight, for mounting wherever directional il- lumination is required, can be used in display work, shop fitting, or domestic applications. Its parabolic, aluminium reflector produces a hard- edge beam of 18,000 candelas.

The reflector, of pure aluminium, measures 7 in. in diameter by 62 in. deep and stands 91⁄2 in. high overall. It features a raised shield round the circumference and is de- signed to take a 100w, silvered bulb. The reflector is held by a 6in. long adjustable stirrup, on which it pivots through 180 deg.

WASH BASIN

Self Rimming Feature Eliminates Metal Frame

TAHOE is the name given to the latest model of wash basin made by Kohler Co., Kohler, Wis., USA. Of enamelled cast iron, it measures 21 in. x 19 in., but will fit existing counter top openings of 20 in. x 18 in.

A self-rimming design eliminates the need for metal framework and makes installation quick and easy. The Tahoe, shown here with Flair white acrylic fittings, is available in a range of accented and pastel colours.

ROOFING SYSTEM

Fixes Direct to Structural Elements

ANDEK is a light-weight roofing sys- tem of all dry construction suitable for both flat and sloping roofs. It offers economic span to load ratios, high thermal insulation values, good acoustic qualities and a soffit suitable for direct decoration.

The system, developed by the con- tract division of D. Anderson & Son Ltd., 83-89 Uxbridge Road, London, W5, comprises galvanised steel U- section bars at 2 ft. centres support- ing structural insulated panels and waterproofed with flexible built-up roofing. It is designed for a superim- posed load of 15 lb. per sq. ft., offers single spans from 8 to 15 ft. and is suitable for fixing direct to concrete. steel or timber structural elements. Fixing is by clips, cartridge assisted fixings or drive screws depending on the supporting structure.

Supporting bars are 4 or 5 in. deep formed from 16, 18 or 20 swg steel. Structural panels are 2 in. deep ex- cluding finishes, four alternative specifications being available.

Three layer built-up roofing is re- commended on flat roofs and pitched roofs up to 10°, two layer on pitched roofs over 10°. Finish is normally % to 1⁄2 in. stone chippings. Use of mineral surfaced felt reduces the dead weight by 2 lb sq. ft.

WALL COVERING

New Material Lightweight and Rot Resistant

DU PONT are soon to market as a substrate for wallcovering a new sheet material of spunbonded olefin. Call- ed Tyvek, the sheet is tough and lightweight and has a uniformly smooth surface with a dull matt finish which may be readily coated with conventional wallpaper. The product is highly resistant to tearing and is insensitive to moisture and mildew.

The inherent whiteness of Tyvek acts as a uniform base for white or coloured coatings which can then be machine or screen printed. Adhesion is high with ordinary wheat paste or other conventional wallcovering ad- hesives and the strength of Tyvek also permits easy stripping for re- decoration.

CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Improved Design Houses Units On Common Backplate

THE original Crabtree L-60 cur- rent-operated earth-leakage circuit breakers have been superseded by an improved design in which the basic tripping mechanism and miniature transformer are mounted on a com- mon backplate with a single protec- tive cover.

The units come in single-pole-and- neutral and triple-pole-and-neutral versions, the latter suitable for both balanced and unbalanced three-phase loading.
