DRINKING FOUNTAIN

Model Mk. 2 comprises a double-action valve

Broken

a Mk. 2 version of the Puraqua drinking fountain by Associated Builders Merchants Ltd.. Wharf, Upper Thames St.. London. E.C.4, features an inclined, hooded water jet and a large catchment bowl made of white rigid thermoplastic in a tapered rectangular shape, measuring 514 in. (13.3 cm.) wide by 9 in. (22.9 cm.) long.

Produced in chromium-plated brass, the mechanism of the fountain com- prises a double-action valve worked by a toggle lever, a key-operated re- gulating valve to set the required maximum flow of water, a 11⁄2 in. inlet and a 34 in. outlet.

The catchment bowl, with a high- gloss interior finish and integral drain- ing channels, is inclined outwards at an angle of 30 deg. to the wall in

order to provide greater clearance for the user.

Overall dimensions of the whole assembly are 94 in. (23.5 cm.) wide by 74 in. (18.5 cm.) high by 8 in. (20.3 cm.) deep from back to front.

FIBRE-GLASS MATERIAL

Translucent and flame restistant

A DECORATIVE glass fibre material has been developed by Bantex Ltd., Turo House, Mark Road, Hemel Hemstead, Herts., UK. The material is flame resistant, making it acceptable for suspended ceilings, partitions and decorative schemes in general.

The panels, made of glass fibre

reinforced resin, have a raised surface texture. The resin is translucent with outstanding clarity and the three-di- mensional surface enables the manu-

facturers to produce a range of jewel-like colours. Pictures or letter- ing for commercial purposes, or pure- ly decorative motifs, can be built into the material.

The panels are made in standard sheets of 3 ft. by 2 ft, with a thickness of 1/8 in. The bending strength is 8.000 lb. per sq. in. while the tensile strength is 7,300 lb. per sq. in.

The manufacturers are interested in contacting agents in S.E. Asia.

VENTILATION

Sound - insulated units circulate fresh air

DESCRIBED by the manufacturers as an "acoustical ventilation unit", the Silentair operates quietly in a normal acoustic environment and prevents external noise penetration while ven- tilating a room with either total fresh air or a mixture of fresh and recir- culated air.

The Silentair operates by means of two balanced multivane centrifugal fans mounted on vibration isolators, and supplied in versions capable of introducing a maximum air flow of either 250 or 300 cu. ft. (7.079 or 8.495 cu. m.) per min. In both cases, the fan impellers housed in acoustic- foam scrolls draw the fresh or parti- ally-recirculated air through washable

filters and sound-attenuator-lined pas- sages to discharge it past further acoustic elements and, finally, through adjustable-vane louvres into the room.

A four-position knob gives the choice of high, normal and low air- flow, plus "off", and a hand-operated damper controls the amount of air recirculated. When used properly, with well-installed double glazing having a 6 in. to 8 in. (15.2 to 20.3 cm.) air-space, the unit makes possible a total sound insulation well above that provided by a 411⁄2 in. (11.4 cm.) brick wall.

Sound Attenuators Ltd.. Eastgates, Colchester, Essex, UK. are the mak-

ers.

PLAN HOLDER

Hangers hook on to frame for easy insertion and removal

AN addition to the Planman range of plan-storage equipment, the Lateral (Type H) carrier. by J. Hodsman & Son Ltd., 82-84 Eldon Street, York. UK, consists of a metal frame accept- ing modified Gripfast plan hangers, each with a central metal hook.

In this system, the hangers need not be supported at both ends, one in front of the other within the frame; instead, they can be offered up to the unit at an angle of 90 deg. and hook- ed over a bar running across the
