PORTABLE COPIER
Saves draughtsmen re-drawing time
SECTIONS of engineering drawings can be copied on to a translucent material and transplanted on to new drawings using the model 70 3m portable copying machine. The system cuts out time-consuming re-drawing and avoids the risk of errors.
The machine can be used to add details of previously drawn com-

ponent parts to a new drawing. The existing material may be in a variety of forms, such as opaque, dyeline, or half-tone, and be in bound volumes, or part of a large drawing.
It may
be copied by the model 70 using possibly an adhesive-backed translu- cency film, and simply stuck into place on the new drawing.
Another application for the copier is to provide copies of standard ma- terial, such as title blocks, tabulations, structural specifications, security notices, lists of abbreviations and symbols, which are in recurrent use.
The model 70 uses the dry photo copying process of light exposure and heat development, and does not re- quire inks, chemicals or powders. It will make a translucent copy up to 81⁄2 in. by 11 in. in about a minute. Small and lightweight, it is designed to be carried and placed on the ma- terial to be copied.
It will copy from material mounted on a wall and can also be used for normal office copying.
Minnesota (3M), the manufacturers, have companies in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila and Hong Kong.
COPYING MACHINE
Electrostatic model accepts roll of sensitive paper
A SPECIAL feature of the Model 220 desk-top electrostatic copying machine is that it prints on a 460 ft. (140.2 m.) roll of treated copying paper.
An automatic guillotine, linked to an ad- justable marker below the glass platen, cuts off the exact length of paper to suit the original.
The Model 220, by Copycat Ltd., Greycoat Place, London, S.W.I. measures 2 ft. 114 in. wide by 11 in. high by ft. 61⁄2 in. deep (90.7 by

can be plugged into a standard electricity supply and, once switched on, IS ready to operate without a warm-up.
As well as the power switch, the controls comprise an operating switch and two dials, one of which regulates the density of reproduction while the other controls the quantity of copies to be produced, either in batches from I to 20, or continuously until the machine is switched off. Originals, which may be in colour, are placed face down on the 10 by 15in. (25.4 by 38.1 cm.) platen, measured off with the marker and covered by a flexible con- tact sheet.
The machine uses a liquid toner and drops copies directly into a re- ceptacle at one end. Rolls of copying paper can be supplied in widths of 8. 81⁄2 and 10 in. (20.3. 21.5 and 25.4 cm.).

from heavy-duty metal and the in- terior is of expanded polystyrene foam with a precut three-cavity line to accommodate three standard con- crete specimens in their individual cardboard moulds,
In addition to being a container, the Cure-Pak serves also as a curing medium.

GLASS BLOCKS
Insulight in metric sizes and colours
A NEW range of Insulight glass blocks in metric sizes is now being marketed by Pilkington Bros., Ltd... St Helens, Lancashire, UK.
The metric blocks are made in three sizes: 190 by 190 by 80 mm (71⁄2 by 71⁄2 by 38 in.); 240 by 240 by 80 mm (91⁄2 by 91⁄2 by 3% in.); and 240 by 115 by 80 mm (91⁄2 by 4-9/16 by 3% in.). Patterns for the first two sizes are crossed rib and large Flemish and for the third large Flemish only.
Insulight glass blocks
The blocks consist of two moulded sections fixed to each other by a direct glass-to-glass fusion joint which provides a strong and permanent seal. They have the functional advantages of heat and sound insulation and fire resistance.
-
Thermal transmittance is 0.44 Btu sq. ft. h. deg. F. Sound insulation is 35 to 40 decibels over the frequency range 100 to 3150 Hz equivalent to a reduction from very busy town traffic noise to a quiet garden. Light transmission for clear blocks is ap- proximately 55 per cent.
CURING COMPOUND
A NEW one-coat curing compound and surface sealer, when sprayed over new concrete immediately after tro- weling, eliminates the need for burlap, straw, or other protective coatings.
The compound permits concrete to retain 95-98 per cent of its moisture for three days and over 90 per cent for seven days.
Testworth Laboratories, Inc., 139 Commercial Road., Addison, USA, are the makers.
